Opportunities in the Field

Philosophy majors go on to contribute in a wide variety of fields and careers. While some go on to pursue the Ph.D. in Philosophy, the majority pursue other interests. Potsdam alumni who majored in Philosophy practice law and medicine, work in government and college administration, are journalists, library scientists and educators. SUNY Potsdam graduates have found employment with the New York Supreme Court, the CIA, with Hewlett Packard, the U.S. Forest Service and school districts across the nation. Many are successful entrepreneurs.
