Special LTEC event: AfroPop Workshop with Martin Kwaku Kwaakye Obeng

The LTEC is please to co-sponsor an Afropop Workshop Friday, March 21 from 5-6pm in Room C119 (lower level) of Crane! The event is open to all faculty, staff, and students and no musical background is required. It will be led by Ghanaian musician Martin Kwaku Kwaakye Obeng who is a recognized master drummer, and Afro-jazz and high-life performer who works with the Crane West African Ensemble. Through the workshop, participants can develop a greater understanding of Afropop (highl-ife music from Ghana) and take away hands-on, active music making skills that can enhance cultural connections in your teaching. High-life songs and polyrhythmic percussion parts will be taught on Ghanaian drums, iron bells, and gourd shakers, along with rhythms and melodies on winds, brass and percussion.
