The Center for School Partnerships and Teacher Certification recommends SUNY Potsdam Teacher Education graduates to the New York State Department of Education for teacher certification after they have completed an approved teacher preparation program.
The Center for School Partnerships and Teacher Certification also verifies program completion for graduates applying for out-of-state certification and serves as a resource for a variety of teacher certification related topics.

Updated Child Abuse Training
Child Abuse Identification Workshop: Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2021 amended Social Services Law § 413 to require additional training to include protocols to reduce implicit bias in decision making processes, strategies for identifying adverse childhood experiences, and guidelines to assist in recognizing signs of abuse or maltreatment while interacting virtually within the New York State Mandated Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect coursework. This law requires that mandated reporters, including those who have previously undergone the current training, complete the updated training curriculum by April 1, 2025.
Look at your course summary and if you see a “2” in the title of the course after CA, you have completed the updated training:

Courses that do not include the updated training:
- HLTH 230/530: SCHOOL HEALTH-CA, SAVE, DASA
- PHTH 230 SCHOOL HEALTH CA SAVE DASA
Anyone who applies for any teaching certificate after April 1, 2025.
