Title: Food Insecurity and Nutrition Education Conference
The Food Security and Nutrition Education Conference will work to provide knowledge to college students about the prominence of food insecurity on college campuses. Campus faculty member and community members working with food insecurity in attendance at the conference will offer insight into what they do and how others can either receive resources to help with food insecurity or resources and volunteer opportunities for them to get involved in the fight against food insecurity! Topics at the conference will include how to 1) get SNAP benefits; 2) shop local pantries and recipes with food pantry items; 3) grocery shop with health in mind on a budget; 4) avoid food waste; 5) learn about food sovereignty; 6) the environment affects food insecurity; 7) among other topics. The main goal is to make students aware of how big the problem of food insecurity on college campuses really is.
