Title: The Person Behind the Teeth
The question this project aims to answer is, can an individual's teeth be used to profile who they were in life?
This project will use specimens found in a quarry in Louisville, NY and are already stored in the Biological Anthropology Laboratory. The specimens were taken from the quarry by the police and given to Dr. Malit for investigation. They found a home in SUNY Potsdam's anthropology department. As a person whose field of interest falls within forensic anthropology, especially with the profiling abilities of the human tooth, this is a perfect opportunity to further cultivate my interests as well as to study the ways in which human teeth could be used for profiling an individual if a forensic case comes about that does not consist of the full human remains but does have the teeth.
