M.S.Ed. in Educational Technology Specialist
This fully online 30-credit-hour program prepares students to be leaders in K-12 schools. Throughout the course of their studies, students will hone their interpersonal and technology skills and work collaboratively with K-12 faculty and staff to create and manage highly engaging learning environments. For students holding an initial teaching certification, this degree leads to recommendation for an additional New York certification as an Educational Technology Specialist, and satisfies the academic requirements for Professional Certification. The program meets the standards established by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and is CAEP certified.
Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- self-assess their Educational Technology Specialist Professional Dispositions using a rating scale and explain their choices in written form.
- identify an organizational problem, then design a 7-14 hour adult training program to address the problem, a core skill in a career as an Educational Technology Specialist.
- document their daily experiences and complete a weekly one-page reflection in their internship journal that documents their 100-hour internship.
- work collaboratively with their site supervisors to design, deliver, and evaluate a technology workshop based on an identified organizational need.
Career Outlook
“In our Emerging Learning Technologies class we’ve been trying to integrate different mediums of immersive learning like VR and AR into the classroom so that teachers have more to utilize than just zoom or Google Classroom. I love SUNY Potsdam. I've been able to work full time, while also remaining engaged and interactive with other students that are here on campus.”
