Our alumni have forged impressive careers since graduating from SUNY Potsdam. What will you do with your degree?

From Potsdam to NASA 

Three SUNY Potsdam graduates are currently working for NASA, including: Dr. Ryan Zeigler ’98, a planetary scientist and lunar sample curator at Johnson Space Center; Danny Krysak ’08, an operations specialist for the Mars rover and Juno spacecraft missions, and Jamie Szafran ’08, an engineer/software developer at the Kennedy Space Center, working on the Artemis mission to the moon.

From Potsdam to the opera stage 

Crane School of Music alumna Katherine Beck ’12 is an award-winning mezzo-soprano, hailed as “balmy-voiced” by the Boston Globe. She has performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Metropolitan Opera, Florentine Opera, Dallas Opera, the St. Louis Symphony, Santa Fe Opera, the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Opera Colorado, and at the Tanglewood Music Center, among others.

From Potsdam to the classroom 

Courtney Ferguson ’22 & ’24 earned a bachelor’s degree in childhood/early childhood education and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. She is now following her dream as an elementary school teacher in New York City. 

From Potsdam to one of NYC’s top hospitals 

Dr. Wilber Parada ’20 was a standout on the Potsdam Bears soccer team and went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. He is now a physical therapist at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Abilities Research Center, conducting research on exoskeletons and robotics to help rehabilitate patients with chronic conditions. 

From Potsdam to CHL coach 

Travis Crickard ’11 is head coach of the Saint John Sea Dogs, a Canadian Hockey League team that regularly funnels athletes directly into the NHL. He built the foundation for his career starting with the Potsdam Bears men’s hockey team and as a public health major at SUNY Potsdam.
