SOCA LOCA's Roundtable: Examining the Impact of the Current Political Climate on Minority Groups
February 24, 2025 06:00 PM to 07:00 PM
Student Union Forum (204)
https://potsdam.campuslabs.com/engage/event/10987928
Join SOCA LOCA, GSA, BSA, WIB, PSA and other student leaders, for an engaging and thought-provoking roundtable discussion on how recent policy changes are impacting marginalized communities. From Latinx and queer individuals to first-generation students, undocumented individuals, and trans folks, we’ll explore the real-life effects of shifting government policies on our rights, opportunities, and daily lives.
In addition to the discussion, we’re honored to have a special "Know Your Rights" presentation by Rachel Osorio, a paralegal at Mundie Law Firm, an immigration law firm based in Queens, NY. As the mother of our SOCA LOCA President, Rachel brings both professional expertise and a deep personal connection to the issues at hand. She’ll provide crucial insights on legal protections, resources, and ways to navigate challenges within the current political climate.
If you have any anonymous questions you'd like Rachel to address before her presentation, please submit them here: https://forms.office.com/r/kNCdFbkTVQ
This is a great opportunity to ask about legal rights, immigration policies, or any concerns you may have in a safe and confidential way.
This is a space for open dialogue, shared experiences, and collective learning. Whether you want to listen, share your story, or strategize ways to take action, this discussion welcomes all perspectives. Come be part of the conversation and help build a more informed and empowered community!
