The EAP welcomes all employees of the State of New York including CSEA, PEF, UUP, PACES, Research Foundation, and Management/Confidential employees. We also serve family members and retirees.
The NYS Empire Plan and HMO covers many aspects of treatment, including mental health and substance abuse. For more information on what is covered in your specific area, check with your Health Benefits Administrator or look in the NYSHIP online benefits.
Cooperation between labor and management will assist employees to use their EAP at the earliest possible stage before behavioral or medical problems occur or get worse. EAP training for supervisors is encouraged at all levels. EAP training for supervisors can be done online at the GOER or contact your EAP Coordinator to schedule an in-person training session.
Supervisors need to learn to recognize problems and refer employees before job performance deteriorates beyond recovery. In addition, employees should be encouraged to use the EAP without fear of jeopardizing their jobs.
