Our access to Moodle officially ends on Wednesday, Sept. 28. You have one week left to back up your Moodle courses and save them to OneDrive. After September 28, we will no longer have access to Moodle and all data will be permanently deleted.
If you have courses that need to be transferred to Brightspace, we recommend backing up your courses right away. The Center for Creative Instruction (CCI) has created tutorials to help with this:
-
Backing up your course and importing it into a Dev shell in Brightspace
The import does not come through perfectly. Refer to this checklist of things to fix.-
DEV shells for winterim and spring semesters will appear in Brightspace by Oct. 21. DEV shells are not connected to Banner (students will not be enrolled) and are to be used for development only.
-
-
Backing up your course in OneDrive for future use
This creates a backup that can be imported into Brightspace later, but cannot be read by anything else, like Microsoft Office. -
Downloading Course Content
This creates a Zip folder of all the documents in your course that you can browse in a more human-friendly format than the backup file. The course content Zip file cannot be imported into Brightspace.
For Your Records
You may need grades for future reference or for writing reference letters. There is a tutorial on downloading Moodle gradebooks as Excel files.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the IT Service Desk by email at itservicedesk@potsdam.edu or the CCI at cci@potsdam.edu
