Potsdam Auxiliary & College Educational Services Celebrates Top Ranking in SUNY Student Opinion Survey

Potsdam Auxiliary and College Educational Services is proud to announce that SUNY Potsdam has once again been ranked No. 1 in the State University of New York system for dining services. This is the fourth consecutive time PACES Dining Services has received this ranking.

The 2021 SUNY Student Opinion Survey rated the 27 state-operated colleges and university centers in SUNY system. The SOS project collects information and opinions every three years, and uses the information to assess and study quality of life issues on SUNY campuses.

“Anyone who studies or works at SUNY Potsdam can tell you that the dining services here are top notch. We are so proud of all the hard work that PACES Dining Services puts in to ensure the highest level of service and top quality meals for our students, employees and visitors every day,” said SUNY Potsdam Officer-in-Charge Dr. Philip T. Neisser ’79.

The SUNY System Administration Office of Institutional Research and Analysis conducts the survey. The SOS survey findings are important because, unlike other studies, they rank customer satisfaction against the other 26 state-operated SUNY institutions and provide comparative data.

“We are so proud of our staff; they have my heartfelt thanks, especially during the pandemic, for continuing to offer our students, faculty, staff and visitors the highest quality meals and services. This is a wonderful testament to their hard work over the years,” said PACES Director of Dining Services Pat Gray.  “To receive the ranking four consecutive times, during a pandemic, is remarkable. They are always thinking about new ways to improve what we do and how we do it, and our customers appreciate their efforts. We have an amazing team of cooks, managers, servers and cashiers.”

In the 2022 Best Campus Food Survey by Niche, SUNY Potsdam received a Grade A-, and ranked 186th in America (out of 1,391 public and private institutions). SUNY Potsdam’s dining services were also recognized in Niche’s 2022 Best College Food in New York list, where the campus was ranked No. 10 out of 104 campuses across the state.

PACES Executive Director Daniel J. Hayes credited the PACES Board of Directors for their leadership, and the students for their continued support.

PACES is a proud supporter of local businesses, seeking business collaborations and purchasing as much from regional and New York State producers and suppliers as possible. Last year, PACES purchases goods from many producers across the state and locally, including produce, grain-fed beef, maple syrup and baked goods.
