**** Invitation from Dr. Esterberg ****
Dear Colleagues:
I am delighted to announce that on Friday, April 5, 2019, SUNY Potsdam will host the third annual Associated Colleges Sustainability Day. The theme is “Seeing Sustainability,” which is inspired by this year’s keynote speakers, Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio. Menzel and D’Alusio are the internationally renowned photojournalism team best known for their photo essays of average families around the world with iconic shots of them posed in front of their dwellings with all of their possessions, and in their kitchens with a week’s worth of food.
I encourage all faculty, staff and students to consider participating in this collaborative event. There are many ways you can do so: propose a panel, presentation, paper or a poster; provide a workshop; develop an interactive booth for the Sustainability Fair; show a film or piece of art; give a live performance; share lunch with your counterpart on the staff of one of the other Associated Colleges, or simply attend all or part of this enriching day of activities. The general proposal deadline is February 1, 2019. See this link for the Call for Proposals.
Faculty, please consider utilizing the keynote speakers’ work in one of your spring courses. Their pictures are truly worth a thousand words and speak to concepts across the many disciplines. All of their books are currently on reserve in Crumb Library and will remain so throughout the spring semester. In addition, the Menzel-D’Aluisio website has a vast array of their work and more can be found on the web.
A limited number of curriculum development grants are now available to encourage the integration of Sustainability Day 2019 into one or more spring semester courses. Notification will be in late December. Funds will be awarded in January. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, December 19, 2018. See this link for details.

Sincerely,
Kristin G. Esterberg
