The Center for School Partnerships and Teacher Certification is seeking an Assistant Director (Staff Assistant SL2) who will support and enhance the earned reputation of the School of Education and Professional Studies by maintaining respectful relationships with office employees across campus, P-12 partners, and other institutions. Represent the School of Education and Professional Studies in a manner that sustains and enhances the respect that has been earned from the public schools that support our programs. Lead the Professional Development Schools (PDS) Committee to create a vision for teacher preparation/partnerships at SUNY Potsdam and determine ways to develop new partnerships; assess existing partnerships; build the teacher pipeline; and meet accreditation requirements. Bring the vision and ideas to fruition.
Help to publicize the efforts of the Center and School of Education to the public to attract new students and further develop the earned reputation of SUNY Potsdam. Coordinate the development of field-based activities of all programs between the School of Education and the public schools; arrange placements for teacher education students in public schools for pre-student teaching requirements by working with Teacher Education faculty and public school personnel and assist the Director of the Center as needed.
Collaborate with faculty to identify best matches and secure practicum placements that provide meaningful learning experiences based on program requirements, accreditation, and program philosophy by utilizing accepted school protocol. Serve as the Teacher Education Student Association (TESA) advisor which includes coordinating with the executive board, oversee budget, and serving as liaison with College Advancement to plan the annual conference on education.
