The Crane School of Music is accepting on-line applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in choral music education beginning fall 2018.
Responsibilities include conducting of choral ensembles; designing and facilitating elementary/secondary choral practica and/or early childhood general music practica; teaching additional music education courses, appropriate to the candidate’s interests/skills and program needs; activity in student recruitment and advising; ongoing professional development engagement in creative and/or research activity; and service activities appropriate to the appointment.
Required qualifications include minimum ABD status in an appropriate doctoral program (completed doctorate required for tenure); experience and/or coursework in choral music leadership (K-12) and childhood music (P-12); at least three years of experience teaching elementary/secondary school music; communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues; a demonstrated commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom.
Preferred qualifications include a completed PhD or EdD in music education; experience in teaching college-level music education courses and/or conducting college choral ensembles; experience in early childhood music education; work, research or teaching involving underrepresented groups; collaborative work across various departments in fostering the success of underrepresented groups.
