The Crane School of Music is accepting on-line applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Choral Music to begin August 2018. We seek candidates who are committed to the highest musical standards, who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, and who are committed to recruiting and educating the next generation of successful music educators.
Responsibilities include conducting choral ensembles, teaching choral conducting, teaching choral techniques, or other courses according to program needs and the appointee’s experience/credentials. The successful appointee will be expected to assist with recruitment and advising, while maintaining an ongoing commitment to professional development in creative and/or research activity, and engaging in service activities appropriate to the appointment. Teaching responsibilities may include online, hybrid, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus course instruction.
Required qualifications include minimum ABD status in DMA or equivalent doctoral program (completed doctorate required for tenure). We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom.
Preferred qualifications include a completed doctorate degree, successful college-level teaching, successful K-12 teaching experiences, and demonstrated engagement in professional development activities enhancing knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion, and working collaboratively across various units in fostering success of underrepresented groups and a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
