The Crane School of Music is accepting on-line applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Musicology beginning fall 2018.
Teaching responsibilities include core music history survey courses, upper-level courses, non-major courses, working with Musical Studies students pursuing the major in music history, and electives in the candidate’s area of expertise. Student advising, service, and continued professional engagement are expected as part of the position. Teaching responsibilities may also include online, hybrid, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus course instruction. We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom.
Required: Ph.D. in musicology, relevant teaching experience, and expertise in music before 1750; teaching experience beyond the teaching assistant level, and evidence of scholarly work on underrepresented musics preferred. We are, especially, seeking candidates who have worked with, done research with, or taught under-represented groups and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups.
