The Crane School of Music is accepting on-line applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor of voice to begin Fall 2018. The appointee will teach applied voice to music majors, hold weekly studio performance class, and teach other courses in areas such as diction, vocal pedagogy, vocal repertoire, voice class for non-majors, or any other courses according to program needs and the appointee’s experience/credentials. Continuing activity as a vocal artist will be expected, as well as engagement with a dynamic vocal area to recruit and retain high-quality voice students, and service activities appropriate to the appointment. Sopranos, mezzos or baritones are preferred, but all voice types will be considered.
Required qualifications include a completed master’s degree, demonstrated success as a studio voice teacher, relevant performing experience, and communication/interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues. Preferred qualifications include completed doctoral degree, demonstrated success in classroom teaching, work, research or teaching involving underrepresented groups, and collaborative work across various departments in fostering the success of underrepresented groups.
