The Crane School of Music is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Voice to begin August 2020. The appointee will teach applied voice to music majors, hold weekly studio performance class, and teach other courses in areas such as diction, vocal pedagogy, vocal repertoire, voice class for non-majors, and/or other duties according to program needs and the appointee’s experience/credentials. Continuing activity as a vocal artist will be expected, as well as engagement with a dynamic vocal area to recruit and retain high-quality voice students, and service activities appropriate to the appointment. Baritones, bass-baritone, and basses are preferred, but all voice types will be considered.
Required qualifications include a master’s degree, demonstrated success as a studio voice teacher, substantial and ongoing performing experience, and communication/interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
Preferred qualifications include a completed doctoral degree; successful college-level teaching experience beyond the teaching assistant level; demonstrated success in classroom teaching; successful experience engaging with a dynamic vocal area to recruit and retain high-quality voice students; and demonstrated engagement in professional development activities enhancing knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion fostering success of underrepresented groups in a supportive environment.
