College Advancement is accepting on-line applications for an Associate Director of Fundraising/Development Officer (local title), Staff Associate (budget title), who will be charged with cultivating and soliciting major gifts from alumni and friends in regions across the country. This candidate will join a highly successful fundraising team that encourages professional growth and operates in a collegial and supportive work environment. Job requirements include, and may not be limited to:
- Cultivate potential donors through face-to-face meetings, email, and phone
- Create strategy plans to engage prospects
- Work with college leadership, faculty, and staff to identify priority funding opportunities
- Conduct trip planning to meet with prospects and donors, which includes making “cold calls” on a regular basis
- Travel to assigned regions for multiple days at a time to visit with donors and prospective donors
- Solicit and secure major gifts to meet fundraising goals
- Draft funding proposals, gift instrument documents, donor profiles for college publications, etc.
- Steward relationships with donors
- Utilize CRM database to manage and track fundraising activities
- Attend donor and alumni events on campus and in regions
- Work occasional evenings and weekends on campus to engage alumni and friends
- As requested, represent Advancement on campus committees and task forces
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, exceptional written and oral communication skills, proficiency in MS Suite, email, web, and database environments, excellent organizational and process management skills, ability to manage projects and meet goals and deadlines, flexibility in job function and requirements, and an abiding commitment to public higher education. Some weekend and evening work and ability to travel extensively is required (valid driver’s license required).
Preferred qualifications: Two to five years paid professional experience in major gift solicitation or high-level sales, work experience in a higher education environment, and with a growing diverse student body and the College’s commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
