The Counseling Center is accepting on-line applications for a full-time, 12-month Licensed Mental Health Counselor/Licensed Clinical Social Worker to provide individual, group, and relationship therapy to students; evaluation and assessment of students in crisis; consultation to faculty, staff, students and students’ families as needed; walk-in crisis services and after-hours emergency coverage as part of the Center rotation; outreach and training for Resident Assistants, student leaders, and other student groups; service to Division of Student Affairs committees as requested by supervisor; and timely documentation of clinical services.
The successful candidate will have an earned master’s degree in mental health counseling or social work or a closely related field with equivalent experience, be licensed or license eligible within two years as a mental health professional in the State of New York, and possess a NYS driver’s license. Applicants with degrees other than mental health counseling must already possess needed supervised hours for their clinical license. In addition, candidates should be generalist clinicians with training and experience in a wide range of student mental health and presenting concerns, and specific interest and experience in providing counseling to college students from diverse populations. Preferred qualifications include: Previous training and experience in a college or university counseling; well-developed brief counseling and crisis-intervention skills; a self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high professional ideals; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
