Department of Psychology Two Visiting Assistant Professor Vacancies

The Department of Psychology is accepting on-line applications for two, full-time, academic year, Visiting Assistant Professors to begin Fall 2021. Each position is a two-year visiting position. The areas of specialization for the two positions include Biopsychology / Physiological Psychology / Neuroscience or Clinical / Counseling / School Psychology. The ability to teach an introductory course in Statistics or Introduction to Psychology, is desirable. The specific area of specialization for each position is open. In addition to courses in the applicant’s area of specialization, the ability and willingness to teach Introduction to Psychology or Introduction to Statistics is desirable.

The successful candidate will support the department’s focus on involving students in research and the campus’ mission of providing an education that emphasizes applied learning experiences for our students. A willingness and ability for Clinical / Counseling / School Psychology applicants to engage in clinical work or counseling for constituents in the community is also desirable, although not required. This position may include teaching online/virtually, evenings, weekends, and/or off campus.

Required qualifications: PhD in Psychology, although ABD in Psychology will be seriously considered. We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering, and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching courses in Biopsychology, Physiological Psychology or Neuroscience at the college level OR with experience teaching courses in Abnormal Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Intellectual Disabilities or School Psychology at the college level. In addition, we are interested in candidates who can demonstrate the potential for scholarly activity involving undergraduate students, appropriate to the discipline. Also strongly recommended for Clinical / Counseling / School applicants is licensure or the eligibility for licensure in New York State. Experience teaching in an online/virtual environment is preferred. We are, especially, seeking candidates who have worked with, done research with, or taught under-represented groups and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups.
