Director of Counseling Center Vacancy

The Counseling Center is accepting on-line applicants for a Director of the Counseling Center. The Director is a member of the senior staff of the Student Affairs Team and is responsible for the coordination and management of the Counseling Center. The Director will provide strategic leadership and direction to the counseling center staff committed to serving a diverse student body. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong organizational skills along with strong communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of campus constituents. With a deep understanding of key trends and best practices, the Director will work with colleagues across campus to develop and instill a strong culture of mental health and wellness that assists with developing lifelong skills for success. 

The Director will be collaborative and support programming with faculty and staff departments across campus to promote and advance good health and wellness priorities with an assessment process for the area of student well-being. In addition, the Director will oversee counseling with a focus on prevention, education, health promotion, and effective clinical intervention; ensuring that the staff provides effective management of student prevention and intervention and health education. In addition, the Director will fulfill varied clinical responsibilities as a licensed therapist. 

Required qualifications:  A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university, in mental health counseling, counseling psychology, counselor education, social work or other closely related discipline; a minimum of five (5) years post licensure experience as a staff member in a clinical and/or counseling setting; strong commitment and experience with diverse and marginalized individuals and communities; and currently licensed as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Psychologist in the state of New York.

Preferred qualifications:  Experience working with Medicat Software; certified QPR Suicide Prevention Trainer; and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Director or Assistant/Associate Director of a college counseling center.
