The Crane School of Music is accepting on-line applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Opera beginning fall 2019.
Responsibilities include directing two operatic productions each year, overseeing all aspects of production, and teaching classes in acting, movement, performance practice, and/or other related courses within the candidate’s expertise. The Director of Opera will effectively collaborate with other members of the Crane opera team, including musical and production staff, voice faculty, and designers, to foster a nurturing and creative opera program and curriculum.
The Crane Opera Ensemble performs two productions per year, one of which is fully staged with orchestra, as well as periodic musical theatre productions in partnership with the Department of Theatre and Dance. The Director of Opera also manages the Domenic J. Pellicciotti Opera Composition Prize, which supports the development and premiere of a new operatic work every four years.
