The Financial Aid office is accepting applications for a Financial Aid Advisor, SL-3.
Responsibilities of the position are to interpret and advise students on federal, state, and institution financial aid programs, assisting students and parents in determining need and eligibility for various student aid funds. Financial Aid Advisor may also have responsibility for a specific financial aid area, such as, work-study, federal or state grants, loans or computer systems, EDE data load.
Financial Aid Advisor serves on the campus financial aid staff, meets with students and parents to determine financial needs and recommends assistance and programs within established laws and guidelines, reviews applications, certifies eligibility, authorizes awards and vouchers for payment, manages budget control, advises students and parents in the management of the student’s personnel finances, alternate sources of assistance and financing, conducts reviews and evaluations of financial aid applicants for packaging, and conducts directed research and evaluations. The position requires some work on weekends and outside the regular work day.
Bachelor’s degree is required. We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment in and out of the classroom. Master’s degree, Financial Aid experience, proficiency in Excel and Banner preferred. We are, especially, seeking candidates who have engaged in professional development activities to enhance knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion and have worked collaboratively across various departments in fostering success of underrepresented groups and a supportive and inclusive environment for all.
