Financial Aid Advisor Vacancy

The College Registrar’s office is accepting on-line applications for a full-time Financial Aid Advisor (State Aid Coordinator) who will work in conjunction with all offices in Student Administrative Services including Financial Aid, Student Accounts, The Registrar’s Office and One Stop. Reporting to the College Registrar and the Director of Financial Aid, the State Aid Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and timely certification of state aid award programs, including, but not limited to, Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), Excelsior Scholarship Program, Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS), and all other state scholarship programs as well as cross registration.

Execute the accurate and timely certification of all state aid award programs, including resolving award discrepancies and student eligibility questions. Act as College’s “Certifying Officer” for various scholarships and loans. Accurately and professionally respond to student and family questions/concerns related to all state aid award programs. Serve as the point person for Student Administrative Services in the SUNY cross registration portal. Will be required to participate in on-going trainings provided by state agency and will assist with other Student Administrative Services duties as needed.

Required Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree, at least one year of professional experience in higher education in the areas of Financial Aid, Student Accounts, or Registrar or at least three years’ experience in other professional work setting with specific experience in certifying and verifying regulatory documents. Experience in a fast-paced customer service environment, strong mathematical and analytical skills, excellent communication skills, ability for multitasking, adaptability to change, and successfully working in a team environment, and computing proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word. We are seeking candidates who possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues and who have demonstrated a commitment to creating, fostering and sustaining an inclusive environment.

Preferred qualifications: Experience with Ellucian Banner, Degree Works, or other Student Information System and professional experience with NYS HESC award program awarding and/or certification.
