On-line applications are being accepted for a Graduate Residence Hall Director (Grad RD) which is a 10-month, live-in, temporary/part-time, professional staff position. The Grad RD reports to the Assistant Director (AD) to run a residence hall. The Grad RD must be available to work 30 hours per week. This person must be able to work on an independent basis with little supervision at times. The Grad RD must also be able to collaborate on projects and tasks the Office of Residence Life completes. This person must be an effective communicator as they may be assisting people on the phone and in the office on a daily basis.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: direct responsibility for a residential area housing approximately 225 residents; supervise a student staff of 8 Resident Assistants; student conduct hearing officer; conflict resolution; crisis intervention and emergency response; administrative and operational functions including oversight of facilities needs; programming and community building; committee work; and participation in departmental planning and decision making.
The position includes potential opportunities for significant involvement in the Department’s staff selection, training and development, and programming depending on interest and experience. Evening and weekend work is expected related to department processes and emergency/crisis response.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and student leadership experience. The successful candidate must be matriculated into a graduate degree program. Other essential qualities include excellent administrative, communication, leadership, decision-making skills and the ability to work autonomously in a team atmosphere.
