New PACES Dining Services operations are being planned for the 2022-23 academic year, in response to the changing needs of campus.
In response to fewer campus customers, PACES will consolidate some dining location operations beginning in the fall semester, in an effort to provide the quality dining services we take pride in, balanced with the need to have a sustainable and stable operational model.
The PACES Board of Directors, which includes students, conducted an extensive evaluation of our current dining options, including surveys and customer counts. Following this analysis, the board announced the following changes for the next academic year.
PACES will not open operations in Crane Commons, Dexter’s or Lehman in 2022-23. These locations will remain operational for Spring 2022, after which staff will be transferred to other locations on campus in the fall, as detailed below.
The Performing Arts Café will provide the same food options currently offered in the Crane Commons. Starbucks specialty drinks will move to a new location in the Barrington Student Union Lobby. The reconfiguration of the Performing Arts Café space will provide an increased speed of service, shorter wait times and a full range of menu options. The Performing Arts Café has a full kitchen and will be able to provide improved services with additional seating. The Crane Commons seating area will remain open with vending machines available.
A Starbucks will be created in the former Union Market location in the Barrington Student Union Lobby. The new Starbucks location will be open for longer hours, including weekends, and offer a variety of grab-and-go options.
A new complete meal solution will replace the Lehman Dining operation, and will be located at ‘Dacks in the Student Union Dining Court. This will allow customers easier access, more options and longer operational hours, with changing daily menus to offer variety.
The Dexter’s Café concept will be relocated to Becky’s Place, and will offer the specialty customer service and menu options that the campus has come to value and appreciate. Tim Hortons will continue to operate at Becky’s Place as well.
Our Dining Service Management team has been working hard to add new menu items and reimagine existing ones. All of our dining locations will continue to offer vegan, vegetarian and gluten-friendly options, and we will continue to serve local produce and goods whenever possible.
