The St. Lawrence County Rock & Mineral Club, www.StLawrenceCountyMineralClub.org, is proud to announce the return of this year’s 54th Annual St. Lawrence County Gem & Mineral Show to be held again at the Canton Pavilion, 90 Lincoln St., Canton, NY. Show dates are Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 21 & 22, 2021 but kicks off on Friday, Aug. 20, with the “glow in the dark” Mineral Hunt for kids (free to kids 12 and under). Saturday, Aug. 21, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Vendors Swapping and Selling, guided rock collecting trip leaving the Pavilion to Power’s farm to dig for black tourmaline and quartz crystals. $5 per person, Mineral Identification table manned by the SUNY Potsdam Geology department, free wire wrapping and gem tree classes both days, Rock Auction at 5 p.m. inside the Pavilion, free mineral kits for kids, door prizes both days. Sunday, Aug. 21, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Vendors Swapping and Selling, beautiful Brazilian Amethyst Cathedral raffle at 2 p.m. Portions of the proceeds from this event help sponsor mineralogy scholarships at SUNY Potsdam and St. Lawrence University, the kids’ fluorescent mineral hunt, and the mineral kits for kids.
