The College has invited Dr. Alex Korb, who has a background in neuroscience, teaching, and standup comedy, and is a UCLA professor. Dr. Korb is an engaging and empowering speaker who will help boost your happiness and productivity. Highlighting the information contained within his book, The Upward Spiral: Using neuroscience to Reverse the Course of Depression, Dr. Korb will discuss how depression and anxiety have a big impact on productivity and motivation.
Unfortunately, while the signs of these conditions aren’t always obvious, they are extremely common — even among highly successful people. In fact, the same brain circuits that make someone creative, driven, and productive, are often the same circuits that put them at risk for depression and anxiety. Fortunately, The Upward Spiral can help individuals reduce stigma and better deal with these common mental health challenges. Simply by making small changes in your thoughts, actions, interactions, and environment it’s possible to change the activity and chemistry of key brain circuits that contribute to depression and anxiety.
This event is open to everyone including students, employees, and our Potsdam community.
