Programs of Study

Minor: Acting

The Acting Minor consists of a concentration of courses designed for those students who wish to strengthen their capacity for performing in plays, operas and musicals.

MST: Adolescence Education, English

The Adolescence Education: English program will prepare graduates to shape young minds and adolescents' interpretation of English Language Arts.

B.A.: Adolescence Education, English

The B.A. in Adolescence Education: English program is designed for students who wish to earn an undergraduate degree leading to Initial certification in English/Language Arts Education (7-12 with 5-6 extension).​

B.A.: Adolescence Education, Mathematics

The Adolescence Education: Mathematics program requires completion of a mathematics major, while simultaneously completing a second major in education, with courses in pedagogy that are specific to the content that will be taught.

MST: Adolescence Education, Mathematics

The Adolescence Education, Mathematics program is nationally recognized by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). The fully online program leads to Initial/Professional Adolescence Education, Mathematics (grades 7–12) with an extension for Middle Childhood Mathematics Education (grades 5–6) certification. 

MST: Adolescence Education, Science

The Adolescence Education: Science program is the perfect fit for those who have a passion for science to convert that fervor into skills to effectively teach it.

MST: Adolescence Education, Social Studies

The Adolescence Education: Social Studies program is designed to prepare graduates to combine subject matter knowledge with a strong pedagogical core as it relates to teaching adolescents in Social Studies.

B.A.: Adolescence Education, Social Studies

The Adolescence Education: Social Studies program requires completion of an appropriate arts and sciences major, chosen from one of the following majors: anthropology, economics, history, politics or sociology, while simultaneously completing a second major in education, with courses in pedagogy that are specific to the content that will be taught.

B.A./M.S.T.: Adolescence Education, Science

The B.A./M.S.T. Adolescence Education: Science program gives students the opportunity to work with experienced faculty, and interact with regional teachers and students during two student teaching placements as they prepare for an exciting and rewarding career as an educator.

Anthropology is the holistic study of human cultures/societies through time and space as well as our primate relatives. Anthropologists study the full range of the human experience, from human origins to language to material culture to social organization.

Minor: Applied Mathematics

The Minor in Applied Mathematics is comparable to the mathematics minor, with a focus on applied, rather than pure, mathematical learning.

B.A.: Archaeological Studies

Using knowledge made in several disciplines, archaeologists across the globe ask a range of questions about the human experience, including how people settled a landscape, what they ate and how they ate it, what work they did and how they lived their religious beliefs, among many others.

Minor: Archaeology

Archaeology explores the lives of past peoples through the material culture they leave behind.

B.F.A.: Art Education

The B.F.A. Art Education major prepares students for certification to teach art from grades Pre-K through 12.
