SUNY Potsdam uses Merit to share student achievement announcements with the campus community and with media outlets across the country. All student achievements can be easily shared on social media, and may also go to hometown media, local government officials and high schools.
Every student has a Merit profile. Achievements like making the Dean’s List, starring in a play, winning a research award and graduating will appear on students’ profiles. An email will be sent every time an achievement goes out. You can also claim your profile to add photos and other campus achievements to enhance your online presence and help bolster your resume.
Claim a profile or follow a student:
- Go to Merit and search for a name.
- Click the “sign in” or “use email” links to sign in or claim a page.
- Click the “follow” button to receive updates on a students’ achievements.
Information in Merit achievements is relegated to what the College defines as directory information under the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act. If you don’t want anything released publicly, you can always choose to opt out.
