Note: If you'd like a PDF with these instructions, that also includes illustrations, click here.

  1. Find the Pharos Secure Release Setup Guide on your computer. For Windows, use Start Menu, All apps, then scroll down until you see the Pharos Systems International directory. The guide is inside. For macOS users, look in your Applications folder.

  2. Open the Pharos Secure Release Setup Guide.

  3. A window will open titled “Welcome to Pharos Secure Release”. Click “Login to continue”.

  4. You will need to authenticate with Pharos. You may see a new window that will ask you to choose a web browser, if so: Select Edge. A page will open telling you that you were successful.

  5. Go back to the Pharos window and you will see a code displayed containing letters and numbers that are unique to your account. You will need this PIN later at the printing device, so write it down! Click “Continue”.

  6. Re-open the Pharos Secure Release Setup Guide. A window will now open showing you the three release methods you can set up: Mobile, Proximity Card, and Keyboard Login.

  7. Select “Keyboard Login”.

  8. The Setup Guide for Keyboard Login window will open, click “Start”.

  9. Be sure that the “Make Pharos Secure Printer your default printer” box is checked. Click “Print Test Page”. A print window will open showing Pharos Secure Printer highlighted, click “Print”.

  10. The final window will say “The document is now held for printing - Click Next to register your PIN”. Click "Next”.

  11. Now you can go to a device to register your PIN from step 5. At the device press “Passcode Login”. Then enter your PIN to associate your account with the new print system. Once that is done you can go back to your computer and click “Finished”.

  12. Now we need to register your RFID/Card. The process is very similar, just follow steps 6 through 11 again, but this time choose “Proximity Card” at step 6 and then at step 11 when you are at the device, just tap your card on the reader (the reader has a red LED and says RFID on it.) You will need your PIN one more time.

  13. (Optional). You may also now register your mobile device with Pharos. An app is available for mobile devices where you can scan a QR Code at the device to release your print job.  The mobile app is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store and is called Pharos Secure Release; the icon is a gray circle with a torch. (Warning- DO NOT choose the app called “Pharos Print”!) Repeat steps 6 through 11 again, but this time choose “Mobile” at step 6 but this time at step 11 just scan the QR shown right on your computer screen with the app. You may now use the app on your mobile device to scan the QR code on one of the printing devices to receive your print jobs.

You’ve now registered your account with the new Managed Print system. You may want to store your PIN somewhere safe for future use.
