There’s something special about a North Country winter! As the first snow falls, excitement fills campus with students venturing outside to build snowmen in the fresh powder enveloping the landscape. Bundled up from head to toe, students embrace the brisk, fresh air on their walks to class, or savor a warm cup of Starbucks coffee in the Barrington Student Union, or the Performing Arts Center, as the temperature dips outside.
On weekends, there’s nothing better than an adventure in the snow—downhill skiing or tubing at Titus Mountain, cross country skiing at Higley Flow State Park, or exploring the charming stores and restaurants in downtown Potsdam. A little over an hour south into the Adirondacks offers amazing opportunities to explore Lake Placid, a picturesque town that was home to the 1980 Winter Olympics. A trip north across the Canadian border provides incredible options to explore history, art, and shopping in Ottawa, Ontario, the capital of Canada!
