Lougheed Center for Applied Learning
Applied learning experiences as part of your degree progression are an important part of your time here at SUNY-Potsdam. The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice requires all major students to have an applied learning experience take place during their SOCI 475 Senior Seminar class where you earn your Connecting Theory to Practice (CT) general education requirement. Most students will fulfill this through an internship. You can view the various experiences open to you, such as student research and travel abroad opportunities, on the Lougheed Center for Applied Learning webpage. An approved applied learning experience should be discussed in conjunction with your academic advisor, the instructor for the senior seminar section, and/or the chair of the department prior to your enrollment in the course. Start planning for this important part of your coursework and degree as soon as possible.
