Listed below is information regarding scholarships and grants to help fund a study abroad experience. Make sure you plan early as deadlines may or may not coincide with study abroad application deadlines.
The Lougheed Center for Applied Learning oversees several study abroad scholarships.
- Available scholarships can be applied to online via the SUNY Potsdam Scholarship Opportunities portal.
- For Fall and Summer experiences, scholarship applications open in March.
- For Spring and Winterim (December, January) experiences, scholarship applications open in October.

Critical Language Scholarships for Intensive Summer Institutes
Scholarships for U.S. citizen undergraduate, graduate, Ph.D. students to participate in beginning, intermediate, and advanced level intensive language programs at American Overseas Research Centers.

Germany
The German Academic Exchange Service, (DAAD) offers financial support for US undergraduate students for study in all fields, for 2-10 months in Germany. These scholarships could be for a summer course at a Germany university, internship, senior thesis research or a study abroad semester/year. This is a flexible program that can work for you within the framework of an existing exchange relationship between SUNY Potsdam and a university in Germany (Universitat Potsdam) or a study abroad program of another US university. North American Wales Foundation
The Foundation exists to promote education and cultural links between Wales and North America. There are two scholarship opportunities for North American students who are studying abroad in Wales – the Lloyd Family Travel Scholarship and the Exchange Scholarship. Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants
Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. One hundred twenty-five $1,000 grants are awarded each year. Applicants do not have to be Society members but must attend an institution with an active Phi Kappa Phi chapter.
