Welcome to Music History, an important component of the core studies for all music majors. Music History is a part of the Music Theory, History and Composition Department. Three Music History survey courses (I, II and III) are required of all majors. Electives in Music History are offered as upper-division courses, covering a wide variety of special topics including jazz, ethnomusicology and American vernacular music.
The Music History Resource Guide gives examples of documentation for projects, papers and posters. Explanations about musical titles, terminology, how and when to cite sources, what information to include with musical examples, and where to find resources are available here.
