Greetings from Central New York!
My name is Sarah, Class of 2004, and I am the new President of the Alumni Board of Trustees. I have been on the Alumni Board for 7 years, serving on several committees before also joining the executive committee as Vice President in 2021. I joined the Board because I had such a positive and profound experience as a student at SUNY Potsdam and wanted to give back to a campus that gave me so much. I love that I get to work with the other Board Trustees and the Alumni Relations & Advancement team on campus to find ways to support our vast alumni network and current SUNY Potsdam students! It feels surreal to take on the role of president of the Alumni Board as I also mark 20 years since graduating. SUNY Potsdam continues to give me the same sense of community it did as the day I set foot on campus.
As I begin my 2-year term as president, I have been inspired by President Smith's Inauguration theme of "Elevate Engagement" and encourage you to think about what you love about SUNY Potsdam. What opportunities or learning experiences did SUNY Potsdam give you that made you who you are today? How might you be able to engage with our alma mater to offer those same experiences to current students?
There are so many ways to connect and support the Potsdam family - volunteering, attending regional events, being a guest speaker or mentor on campus, giving financially (no dollar is "too small") - it all matters! I know that any member of the Alumni Board, Foundation Board, or the Alumni Relations & Advancement team would be more than happy to talk with you about how you can give back to SUNY Potsdam
