Career and Internship Networking Fair 2025 Information

When: March 19, 2025 10 a.m. - Noon & 1 - 3 p.m. Sandwich buffet lunch provided free of charge.

Where: Barrington Student Union Multipurpose Room - 2nd floor - directional signs will be available

Parking: You may park in front of the union to bring your materials upstairs and then move your car to the Performing Arts Center parking lot as seen on this map (PDF). ​

Arrival: Please check in at the employer registration upstairs outside the Union MPR. We will help you find your table. Let us know if you need any assistance throughout the day at this table.

Event Format: traditional tabling style event

Event Purpose: Employers will have the opportunity to talk with students, faculty and one another. We are encouraging students from all years to attend to improve their networking skills and learn about opportunities at your organizations. Feel free to bring information and any swag. You will have a name tag and a resources folder provided upon your arrival. 

Resources provided in the folder will include a contact list of our Career Services and Internship staff, a campus map, a feedback form, a floor map, a networking guide that the students may use when talking with you, and 4 table tents you can add to your name. These will belp guide students when talking with you. These table tents say "Now Hiring", "Summer Jobs/Internships", "Talk to me about...", and "SUNY Potsdam Alum." You can choose to use these table tents or not. 

Lunch: There will be a 1 hour lunch period. We will provide a free sandwich buffet lunch with a few students and some faculty. There will also be a special awards ceremony held while we enjoy lunch. See the information below.

Outstanding Internship Awards: Join us in the Barrington Student Union's Fireside Lounge (at 12:15 pm) for the presentation of the Outstanding Internship Awards! One SUNY Potsdam student and one internship site will receive this distinction for their impressive work and commitment to the internship experience during 2024. These awards will be presented during our employer luncheon (also in the Fireside Lounge).

Employer Resources

We offer a variety of FREE services to employers seeking candidates for full-time, summer, part-time and internship positions. We invite you to take advantage of the following services:​

  1. First, register as an employer on Handshake
    Register

  2. Enter your work email address, create and confirm a password, and click Sign Up. Follow the prompts to create your new employer account in Handshake

  3. Once confirmed, you will receive an email which will include follow-up steps to finalize your account. You will then need to add State University of New York at Potsdam when asked to Connect with Schools.

Posting

While creating a posting, you will have an opportunity to categorize its type (job, internship, or volunteer).​

POST A JOB ON HANDSHAKE

  • Click Post a Job from the home page, OR click Jobs on the left-hand navigation bar, then select Create Job toward right hand corner​

  • You will be asked to complete: Job Basics, Job Details, and Job Preferences​

  • Once completed, click Create

  • Career Services will review your posting for approval and then students and alumni will have access to the opportunities you made available! ​

Information sessions with students and information tables may be arranged to promote your organization or vacancies and meet with students. To engage with our students through a campus visit, please complete the Campus Visit Request form and we will work with you to plan your visit to campus.
