As a group we have planned and coordinated a variety of fun events over the years to raise money for the Student Gift and promote a love of the college! Members of Emerging Leaders are responsible for creating, planning, promoting, and executing the events, so there are a lot of opportunities for members to be creative and innovative, and contribute new ideas for the group. Building on current events with new ideas, or creating a new, original event for the program and campus community is always encouraged from members of the Emerging Leaders group.
Here are some examples of current events and fundraisers that Emerging Leaders has created, planned, and coordinated:
- Campfire & S’mores Mixer
An outdoor event in Marshall Park where students can learn about Emerging Leaders, enjoy some s’mores, and play some games. - Potsdam Appreciation Week
A weeklong celebration of Potsdam consisting of three components:- Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day: Vote for your favorite faculty and staff members across campus and participate in our "Themed Basket Auction."
- Student Organization Appreciation Day: Get to know clubs and organizations across campus by participating in our annual fundraising drive for the Student Gift.
- Student Appreciation Day: Enjoy a variety of free items and activities, such as dog tags, Potsdam-themed buttons, glitter tattoos, creative names, and much more.
- TAG Day: Emerging Leaders work with College Advancement to recognize the many opportunities on campus made possible by our amazing donors.
- Potsdam Pride Appreciation Program: A campus-wide appreciation effort to recognize how members of the Potsdam community support one another; advocate for positive change; and provide inspiration and creativity to help us be our best.
- Candy Cane Giveaway
A completely free two-day event where students can send personalized cards along with candy canes to their friends’ mailboxes in order to spread holiday cheer.
