The Women, Gender, & Leadership (WGL) program consists of two parts. The first component of the program is comprised of weekly workshops scheduled during the Fall semester that focus on different areas of leadership and career development, such as interviewing, networking, conflict resolution, assertive communication, building confidence, and much more.
The second component occurs in the Spring semester; students who attend all of the workshops in the Fall are paired with an alumni mentor. Each student is paired with a mentor that works in their desired career field, and are able to connect with their mentor over the course of the semester in order to learn more about the profession. The program concludes in the Spring semester with a luncheon recognizing the students who have completed the program, while also allowing these students to meet and network with the different SUNY Potsdam alumni who have served as WGL mentors.
