The Center takes great pride in housing the Thomas E. O'Shaughnessy Center for Assistive Technology within its facility, with which the SUNY Potsdam community honored the memory of a colleague and friend, Tom O'Shaughnessy, who had been a member of the Special Education faculty at SUNY Potsdam from 1979 until his passing in 2002. This specialized computer technology is a fitting tribute to Tom, who was well known and respected for his expertise in assistive technology and his work with special education teachers and children in northern New York.
The O'Shaughnessy Center greatly enhances the services offered by the Sheard Literacy Center by providing assistive technology information for college students as to what is current in Assistive Technology.
