Kilmer Labs
The Lougheed Center for Applied Learning’s Kilmer Labs Program seeks to expand opportunities for undergraduate and graduate research experiences by funding SUNY Potsdam’s faculty members’ research projects. Kilmer Labs generally take the form of team-based inquiries and span a range of academic disciplines, from sciences, social sciences, to the humanities and the arts. In return for financial assistance, faculty awardees commit to employ and mentor a specified number of students as research assistants over the term of the award.

A Guiding Light for Diversity Initiatives
A lush green canopy extends in all directions as Clifton Harcum and his students traverse over a suspended bridge connecting giant treetops at the Wild Center. Around the corner, they enter an enormous manmade bird’s nest that provides an awe-inspiring, birds-eye view of the Adirondacks—all part of a week-long alternative spring break program that Harcum launched at SUNY Potsdam in 2020.
