Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has appointed two new members to the SUNY Potsdam College Council, Jeffery L. Cole of Watertown, N.Y., and Alex V. Hammond of Waddington, N.Y. The Governor also reappointed Harold B. Johnson II of Watertown to the council for another four-year term.

National Science Foundation Grant Bolsters SUNY Potsdam Chemist’s Groundbreaking Study of Iron Imbalances
SUNY Potsdam Chemistry Professor Dr. Fadi Bou-Abdallah has received a research grant award of $387,030 from the National Science Foundation for work over the next three years to better understand the body’s storage and release of iron, and how imbalances in those mechanisms may lead to iron-related diseases, including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
Crane Faculty Recital Marks ‘A Winter’s Journey’ on Feb. 7
SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music will present a faculty recital themed around “A Winter’s Journey,” featuring Visiting Assistant Professor of Trombone Christopher Hernacki, on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. “This performance is themed around the winter season, exploring what it means to journey through a time of year that contains both bitter cold and silent beauty. It is a moment to rest and reflect, to listen and engage, with our innermost truths,” Hernacki said.
The Art Museum at SUNY Potsdam Features New Works by Nobu Fukui
The Art Museum at SUNY Potsdam will unveil paintings by the Japanese modern and contemporary artist Nobu Fukui in a new exhibition at the Roland Gibson Gallery. Older works by Fukui, which have been part of the Museum’s Japanese Collection for decades will be complemented by his large, vibrant and visually exciting new pieces, including a mixed-media painting titled “Perception,” which has never before been viewed publicly.
