The policy of SUNY Potsdam on faculty utilization reflects the criteria of the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York for the evaluation of academic employees (Policies of the Board of Trustees, Article XII, Title A) and the practice which has been in effect for many years at the College.

Government
Positions in the federal and state government cover a wide range of topics from resource and energy management to environmental and natural hazards. Some common agencies that employ geologist and GIS technicians are the United States Geological Survey, Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. In New York State the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) commonly employs geology and GIS graduates.

Potsdam Auxiliary and College Educational Services, Inc. (PACES) is a not-for-profit corporation operating under contract with SUNY Potsdam. PACES operates Dining Services, The College Store, Vending Services and a variety of administrative services.
Foundation Impact
The Potsdam College Foundation was established in 1968 to accept gifts on behalf of SUNY Potsdam and support the College. Since 2001, the financial assets of the Foundation have grown from $12 million to $50.2 million.The Foundation has completed three successful comprehensive campaigns, which have raised nearly $50 million.
