Tiny Bugs, Big Trouble
Potsdam researchers study an insect imperiling New York forestsAs the emerald ash borer eats its way through Northern New York forests, SUNY Potsdam’s Dr. Jess (Rogers) Pearson and her team are getting out ahead with tools to understand and hopefully curtail the threat. Funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the team has released parasitoids that attack the borer at multiple experiment sites in St. Lawrence County.
Severe Weather Information
Potsdam sometimes experiences severe weather conditions, most notably during the winter months, when heavy snowfall and icy roads can be a safety concern. In general, as a residential campus, SUNY Potsdam tries to maintain classes and services as fully operational as possible.

A reading of Truman Capote’s “In Cold Blood” set the stage for a mock courtroom trial as Behuniak and her classmates brought the pages of Capote’s non-fiction masterpiece to life—and in doing so, she found her true calling. “I loved it. It took that one class before I was hooked and I knew I wanted to be a lawyer,” Behuniak recalled.
