SUNY Potsdam's Department of University Police is continually striving to improve its ability to keep the campus safe and secure. Officers and employees attend yearly certification and specialty training. We also are engaged in a New York State Law Enforcement Accreditation project.

The SUNY Potsdam Safety Committee was established as an advisory to the university president to address a wide range of campus concerns which contribute to maintaining an overall safe environment conducive to living and working together. The committee's charge includes:

This SUNY Potsdam Facility Use Policy is to be interpreted and applied in accordance with the Mission of SUNY Potsdam. Campus buildings are college community facilities. In determining space availability, priority will be given to the needs of academic programs. No campus building is intended for the sole use of the occupants of that building.

SUNY Potsdam is committed to the free exchange of ideas between people of different social and political systems. It is the policy of the College to encourage such interaction. The College neither requires its employees to answer questions posed by representatives of government agencies nor forbids its staff from responding to such inquiries.

SUNY Potsdam uses Microsoft Office 365 as our standard calendar, email, and collaboration solution. A full suite of on-line tools is available by visiting: https://portal.office.com Applications are available for macOS and Windows, however we recommend using the web portal for a more consistent and feature rich experience.

SUNY Potsdam is committed to meeting the logistical needs of the surrounding community by coordinating services and facilities essential for successful events. When scheduling conferences, workshops, receptions, seminars, etc. for the public, the Director of Student Life Facilities issues a facility permit, ensures appropriate support services and provides facility-fee billing according to College policies and procedures. When providing services, it is necessary to make the most efficient use of the campus resources while not compromising the academic mission of SUNY Potsdam.

The SUNY Potsdam Law Enforcement Training Institute is a landmark applied learning initiative, designed to provide students with the opportunity to complete a rigorous pre-employment, state-approved police training course as part of their undergraduate curriculum.
